Over the last week, HillsCarPal has been visiting Sydney Hills shopping centres. Getting the message out on how we are addressing Shut-in Syndrome has been made easier by having supporters like Oscar and Carmen, who attended the Hills Cultural Festival at Rouse Hill Town Centre on Saturday 10 November 2012, helping us spread the word.
It was also great to get positive feedback from the many shoppers we spoke with. It really helps to keep us focused on the job of starting a new Seniors Transportation initiative.
One woman told us about having to get to and from her eye Specialist. Another spoke of being on “borrowed time” with her driving and not being sure how things will work out when her husband – who suffers early dementia – has to handle public transport?
A few people said they would be interested in driving for HillsCarPal and two (2) wonderful Sydney Hills locals subscribed to our website, ready to take the next step with volunteering with us.
